Breathe in Focus, Hold, Think.  Breathe out.  Smile and say “Ahhhhh” or thank you.

Her ways were ways of gentleness and all her paths were peace.

Proverbs 3:17

ABOUT THE PICTURE: This picture speaks to me of peace, being with the world, being with those you love, green around you, sun above.

The quote speaks to me of our dog Whisper.  Two weeks ago, tomorrow, she  moved from this world.  She was a gentle dog who looked fierce.  When I walked the streets of the Bronx, some would shy away from her.  Pre-judging rules so many.

The Vet came here, I had doubled up on her pain pills an hour before, knowing she was wary of strangers and no long wanted us to pet her, let alone having a stranger lay hands on her. The moving on was peaceful.  For that I am grateful.

I wish I had absolute faith that she is romping now on beyond the Rainbow Bridge. Sceptic that I am, I can only hope. And when you don’t know, you can chose the belief that comforts the most. So I like to think she is on a path to a timeless place of beauty and love.

I know she was suffering, so that is ended.

I have memories of great love that will comfort me when I can think of her without weeping. The picture is from the last long road trip Whisper took with us.  She stopped being able to ride in the car about nine months ago.  This was taken at Capital Reef, outside of Torry, Utah.  We were on our way home from visiting Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon.   She is following David, I am following her.  We were on the way to view some petro-graphs, so there was a sense of history in my heart.  I find faith and awe in connecting to all that has been.  Every once in a while, I walk into a space and know there the sacredness of being one with all.  Walking down the path in the picture I had that sense.

For those of you who don’t understand weeping for a pet, love is love and when it departs physically from your life, the pain is pain.  Some say, when you weep for another, you weep also for yourself.  And being on the Downhill Slope means facing death’s beckoning finger.  We all do, but the older, we are the clearer the finger appears.

STAYING STRONG TIP  Life’s hurt, ugliness, and pain can blot all that is  beautiful and good. There are times one can only bend over in pain and weep.  All the more reason to Be With Beauty when life lets you.
