365/6 PHOTO CHALLENGE –TOPIC OF THE WEEK–PEACEABLE Photo #19 Some of my Be With Beauty Posts are about beautiful memories and what I am thinking about.
ABOUT THE PICTURE Whisper smelling the flowers and enjoying a peaceable moment on a walk last year. Still caught up in looking for pictures and memories of Whisper. I am putting together a memory collage of pictures to send my six-year-old Grand. He loved Whisper and will miss her being here when he comes to visit.
QUOTE Don’t know if this is a true story. May be a six-year-old said these things, maybe not. You can read all the details here. My Cranky Old Lady self rants about mis-information and a lot of stories like this are not always exactly true. I also rant that doesn’t mean not looking for what is true or wise or comforting that offers no harm to others. This story fits that category. . Not so important if true if it comforts and gives us something to think about. The story is about a family having just put down their beloved dog , their six-year-old was there. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ‘I know why.’Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, ‘ People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?’ The six-year-old continued, ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.’ Posted on Mombeams’s web page STAYING STRONG TIP: As I noted in a earlier post, dogs teach us kindness. They also teach us more. That life does not go on forever is a major lesson.
Wise parents listen to children’s ideas about death often no further adult explanation for death is needed. That was the case above.
