So many holidays, let each one dis-spell the darkness of winter where winter abides.  More importantly may the light of peace and kindness glow in everyone’s heart and bring peace to our world. Only we can do that, it is the challenge put before us by the creator, by whatever name you call the life that brought us here to this world.

Did you know that December 8th is Bodhi Day?  It is a Buddhist holiday celebrating the time win the first Buddha became enlightened to the four principles guiding Buddhism.

Buddhism is thought by many to be more a philosophy not a religion.  From the outside looking in it seems to be the worship of many idols.  Not so.  The main two doctrines are detachment from the worship of worldly things and the practice of kindness.

When other religions detach from the from worship of any sort that keeps peace away. Fanaticism is the idea that only you know the truth and you must force others to accept your truth. Not a path to peace.

Tip one: Speak out against any belief in yours or another religion that holds to a doctrine only my way and declares in any way, “Worship as I do or die and burn in hell.”  That belief leads to easily killing others and becoming a tool of these seeking power.

As the poet said “If God be God, God be love.”

Tip two: Respect only beliefs that promote love, peace and justice for all.

Tip three:  This is for the secularists  Religion itself is not the problem.  Many people become  kinder and walk  paths to peace because of  religion.  Fanaticism, hatred of the other, and the use of religion by the power greedy is the problem, Do not fall into the trap of defining the religious as an other.  By doing so you become a tool of evil.

DISCLAIMER: FORGIVE MY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS FOR I HAVE DYSGRAPHIA.  If you need perfect posts, you will not find them here. Dysgraphia is a not well-known learning disability and means that sometimes my sentence structure is not that easy to follow or I make other errors. Still, most people understand me. All of my books are professionally edited, but not all of my blog posts are.  If this troubles you, feel free to read elsewhere.  If you persevere, you are practicing kindness by lifting my spirits for that means you find what I say helpful and that is one of my missions. Kindness always repays those who spread it.
