DAILY CHALLENGE POST

Topic #277: Write a short story that ends with the following bolded sentence below. It can be a short story of just a paragraph or two.

The time had come for Dr. Jiggybones to take his on his daily challenge; that meant  time to walk  the plank.  The treadle, his favorite reward,  waited at the end.  Before he had taken his second step, he noted that  the crossbeams were a bit skewed.  Deciding he had  no time to mess with screwing the crossbeams and to get rid of the skew, and thinking the skew did not look too skewed, he continued.  One step, two steps, three steps, then four; then off and down in the pit where the screw boss waited.  One turn, two turns, three turns, then four and Dr Jigglybones being  totally screwed could jiggle no more.   Having learned his lesson, it was the last time Dr. Jiggybones would let the crossbeams get out of skew on the treadle.

    • Praise from you is a gift from high above me. Your John Jay Cafeteria mention sparked my curiousity. Think we may have passed each other on campus, maybe not, but I was one of their underpaid, working for love treated as added junk professors at the School of Social Work for many, many, many years. Loved the students if not the administration.
