The question of the day:  List the 5 most important books you’ve ever read.  I could probably list a 100 books that have influenced me in one way or another.  but it is late and I am going to just talk briefly about the first title that came to mind and that was The Microbe Hunters by Paul de Kruif.  I must have read it in my late teens or early twenties and one line struck me as a truth I have hung on to ever since.

“Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.”

This quote,  and I don’t remember the context of the quote or even much of the story, is one that has helped me face disappointment and betrayal.  It is one of my mottos.  Thought instead of five books, would list the five mottos that have sustained me throughout my life.

This too shall pass

Now is not forever.

It’s all all right.

Kindness matters most.

I am a great believer in slogans or mottos like the above.  Negative self talk keeps negative feelings alive and well, slogans that can be repeated quickly and over and over again, drive negative thoughts into oblivion.  These are mine.  I am sure every one of you has a similar list.

Share, care, and stay strong.

  1. It happened again. The post that showed up on the Daily Post blog is not the day’s post. Have no idea why that happens and it is related to when I use the copy a post function, but not always. Confusing. Anyway, if you are interested in the women in the picture, go to this

And as you can see it was a post made over a week ago. Sigh. Life goes on and it is all all right.
