DAILY POST CHALLENGE

I’M BACK AND WANT TO VENT ABOUT WHAT IRRITATES ME TRYING TO DRIVE AROUND THE INTERNET  The real question is this: Topic #246: What is your biggest frustration about driving? Identify your biggest annoyance and explain why it frustrates you so much.  Having spent two frustrating weeks, dealing with an effort to drive around the internet, I am posting on that.

Two weeks ago, I  accept WordPress’ invitation to transfer my account to WP.org as I wanted to put up a store front and add affiliates, something not allowed on WordPress.com.  Here is the WP.org come on:

WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

  1. Find a Web Host and get great hosting while supporting WordPress at the same time.
  2. Download & Install WordPress with our famous 5-minute installation. Feel like a rock star.
  3. Read the Documentation and become a WordPress expert yourself, impress your friends.

Sounds great, realizing my geeky talents were not the hottest, I paid WP to do  a guided transfer which comes with an offer of a month’s support to make sure the transfer is completed to your satisfaction.  Sigh, I should know free and easy promises are free and easy.

So first problem was finding out I was no longer part of the postaday challenge.  I could read the posts, but not post. Then I was told I could cancel the transfer and get $50.00 in credits.  Then it was I could change the new blog to the old one,  and change the URL on the new one, or just put up a new blog.  Opted to change the new blog to the old one and then change the URL as I want to use my WP.com blog as a template so the two will be coordinated.   Tried to follow the Happiness Engineers directions which were minimal and finally asked him to make the change which he did, but now I can’t  the new blog’s URL.  But at least I am back here.

The really frustrating thing is that the support seems nothing more than the usual Happiness Engineer’s support and that part of Word Press does not have the best reputation.   I post a question and most often get an answer only after a day or two and often, it does not answer my question.  For a while I thought it was my stupidity, but finally found out how to get on the Word Press.org forums and found the problems I faced were common.  Comforting to an extend, but make me more frustrated by their come-on.

Anyway, I am back here, have no idea if I have a WP.org, and am waiting yet again for instructions from the Happiness Engineers as I do want to set up a store.

WARNING:  I know most of you are not blogging to sell.  I am blogging for personal satisfaction, and to promote my business Emotional Fitness Training, Inc.  For any who might consider shifting to WP.org, be wary.
