DAILY POST CHALLENGE

MY HEROES AND  SHEROES? Not one, but all people who work to make the world better without seeking to convert others to a way of belief.   I have been fortunate enough as a social worker to know so many who seek justice for all while holding on to caring and kindness instead of revenge or personal power seeking.  Doing so often requires more courage than pointing a gun at another.  Here are some quotes from some heroes and  sheros or about heroes and sheroes:

Sometimes even to live is an act of courage.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca

A coward is a hero with a wife, kids, and a mortgage.

Marvin Kitman

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic.  It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.

Arthur Ashe

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily difference we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Marian Wright Edelman

Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work

Mother Teresa

Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.

Mary Anne Radmacher

… real courage is … when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.  You rarely win, but sometimes you do.

Harper Lee
