SHARING KNOWLEDGE HEALTH: APPLE OR PEAR DIET DIFFERENCES

I am thinking about body shape and not the fruits.  I am an apple.  All in my family are apples; we start as skinny/minnies until our thirties then the apple starts growing.  This article interested me.

A New Diet Equation – The Science of Appetite – TIME.

The main point of interest is that we apples don’t easily lose weight on low-fat diets.  We do better cutting out sweets and starchy food like potatoes.  The pears do better on the low-fat diet.  The main conclusion, however, of all diet studies is that portion control seems to matter most.  I lost 40 pounds over a several years by doing the following:

  1. Focusing on taste.  Usually the first bites of anything I  like tastes great, then drops to good and often turn to mindless eating.  I now stop eating when I find great has become just good.
  2. Not dieting.  Eat healthier and that does mean portion control.
  3. Exercising some each day–not so good at that, but whatever I do still helps out a bit.
  4. Accepting that the  battle of the bulge never ends.Working now on getting rid of the winter five-pound weight gain.

Stay strong.
