FROM THE DOWNHILL SLOPE

CARING NO MATTER WHAT

Michael Friedman and I worked together at both Columbia and the Mental Health Association of New York City.  He is one smart and caring man.

Michael Friedman, L.M.S.W.: Dementia Caregivers: How to Build Meaningful Relationships in Spite of Memory Loss.

The advice in his article works for all relationships and is part of two of my major staying strong tips for building positive relationships: Laugh and play together, Create a good memory book and visit it often. This seems to contradict memory loss, but does not.  Your feelings will about your loved one’s loss of memory will be strengthened by your good memories.  Your loved one will remember some and enjoy hearing stories about those not remembered.

Share, care and stay strong.
