FROM THE DOWNHILL SLOPE

AM I A MECHANICAL WOO?  UPDATE AND SUGGESTION FOR DOING SOME GOOD.

Visited a bike store in my quest to have someone come to the house.  No luck.  Also heard from the head of a local biking club who suggested a biking store that wanted to fix Daniel’s old mountain bike now a gift to David for $250 dollars; when Zach visited,  he checked the bike out, oiled a few things and David is happily riding it.

One of the things I miss about the Big Apple were the many “Street Mechanics,” I met in the South Bronx and the small business owners that did their thing in every neighborhood.  I like putting my money in the hands of the man or woman who do the work.  Here the name brand stores hold sway.  Will not give up.

While at the bike store found a charity that sounds good.  Don’t know how much money goes into administration and how much into actual bicycles for people in need, still this seemed worthy.  World Bicycle Relief. Their mission is “to  give people access to independence and livelihood through the power of Bicycles.”  Their ad showed African kids transporting needed water on bicycles  to their families.

Definitely a good cause and bikes are green machines.    Share, care, and stay strong.
