Take ten, time out, take a hike are all useful ideas for dealing with negative emotions. Use it to rate the importance of the issue. Ten is exploding and ready to kill; five is just happens too often; one is not worth my getting upset. Ratings above a five need to be addressed. How: maybe if it is another person, you can discuss the issue, let them know how they make you feel, tell them what you need to keep trying to solve problems between you. Maybe you need to care less or improve your self-soothing skills. You are always half of the problem when negative happenings bother you, particularly when you sweat the small stuff.
