Seeing what is, versus what you want or need to see is how your brain translates what your eyes see into the what you need to see. Three forces operates in your brain’s translation of what your eyes perceive.
- The need to stay safe
- The need to feel okay
- What you already believe
What to do? When strong feelings visit, always pause to ask if you are safe, what thoughts are comforting, and what current beliefs influence you. Thinking only for a few moments about will sharpen you ability to act wisely on what matters.
