Emotional Fitness Tips
Tip one: Acknowledge your hurt. Denying or suppressing feelings is not helpful. Express them wisely, best way might be to journal or share your feelings with one or two others in private before going public with them.
Tip two: Hurt leads to identifying with groups or people suffering similar hurts. Hurt by sexism, racism, or elitism? You will be more likely to believe all that others say on this subject. This is natural, but also leads to bias confirmation which adds fuel to your existing thoughts.
Tip three: Rate the immediate hurt. Here’s a quick rating scale: 1 = no immediate physical pain; 2= some emotional pain; 3=potential exists for immediate physical pain or serious hurt to current life style; 4=some physical pain; 5 = intense pain or immediate life threatening danger.
Tip four: Improve your self-soothing skills so you can stay calm enough to think before acting.
Tip five: Keep hope alive, you cannot predict the future. Trying to do so is a rock strewn path. Don’t stumble down it.
