Topic 18 Reposting: SOPA So Good?
Here is the most important quote from the reblog, for those of you too lazy to go there:
“Here’s the thing: if it becomes law, the cartoons, videos, jokes, news items and links I share with you – in spite of the fact that I acknowledge the source – will all be so well protected by SOPA that my blog could be shut down forever, and I could be prosecuted. US citizens could face up to five years in jail.
Here’s another thing: I don’t have to do anything wrong myself: a reader could leave a comment with a link to You Tube and I could be punished.”
Cranky Old Lady said I was going to black out today. Okay, so Cranky Old Lady is a Liar, liar, panties on fire. This was just too good not to reblog.
Part of my cranky contrary self still thinks limits on freedom of expression are necessay ala the calling fire in a crowded public place. But Sopa is about protecting the big money makers, not the little guys and Laughing Housewives and Crank Old Ladies.
Reality check: Think the jails and courtrooms are clogged now? Small time drug users and dealers move over, if SOPA becomes law, We the People of the Blogging World will be joining you.
Stay black–it is a lovely color.
STAYING STRONG TIP: First: fight SOPA, now and everyday until it is defeated.
Second tip: Share, like, and care. Help me, yourself, and others get and stay strong. Practicing kindness is one of the 12 Daily Emotional Fitness Training Exercises and liking or sharing is an easy way for all of to practice web kindness.
