Exercise Nine: Indulge in a healthy pleasure

Do one thing each day that you consider a luxury or an indulgence. Do it in a healthy way. This might involve giving yourself a hand or foot massage, eating and fully savoring a favorite food or a cup of tea, letting one piece of chocolate melt in your mouth. The important thing is this be something you do just for you and that it be an indulgence .
A good friend makes his daily shower his indulgence. A greenie by nature, he knows that saving water matters, but at the end of a hard day’s work, he wants a long hot shower to wash away the stress. Once upon a time he took two showers a day, so while one is still an indulgence it fits within his conscience and some days it is shorter than others. We all do the best we can.
My current indulgence? Three Milano Double Chocolate cookies and a glass of milk before I go to bed. On those days, I over eat, an unhealthy indulgence, I try to settle for de-caffeinated Chi Tea. It is just not as satisfying, but sometimes I can and still feel nourished at days ends. When I can’t, I indulge and forgive myself and forgiveness is tomorrow’s exercise.
