Staying Strong Tip

I trained as an Ericksonian Hypnotist.   Erickson didn’t order you to relax, he wasn’t into power, but used the strengths of the person he was trying to help.  He thought all hypnosis was self-hypnosis.

When I took the training, I thought I was too guarded and controlled to be hypnotized; still , the  idea of Self Hypnotism appealed;  I volunteered in the training to be a subject for a demonstration in which I would be taught to hypnotise myself.   Wow,  were my eyes opened to a  new world.   Here is a nice introduction to self hypnosis.

Almost any rhythmic activity  accompanied by direct or indirect commands to do this or that have a hypnotic effect.  Many are not aware of this: group prayers  or cheers can  hypnotize  as can rap or martial music.  Hitler and other despots used such  hypnotic tools to gain support and power.

Some trained hypnotists use hypnotic tools to control and make money–these are generally stage hypnotists–the guys that try to get you crowing like a rooster, but also advertisers and salesmen.   Neuro Linguistic Programming  (NLP)is a fancy name for hypnotism by making hypnotism sound  more scientific sounding–many running NLP workshops have made a bundle.

WARNING:  NO ONE CAN BE HYPNOTIZED WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT, BUT SKILLED HYPNOTISTS CAN TAP INTO PARTS OF OURSELF WE WOULD NOT  NORMALLY ACT ON.

Every time someone takes you on a guided meditation or says to you “Close your eyes and relax”  or something as simple as using the word “Imagine”  that person is using hypnotic tools.   You can protect yourself,  by learning first to hypnotize yourself, which is why I suggested this link.  The second step is to develop a safety gate against others.   When someone says to me  “Imagine” or “Close your eyes,”  I always say to myself  “Listen, but don’t do anything you will regret or that will harm you or others.”

Knowledge is power.  Self hypnotism is a great tool when used wisely.
