TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR MISTAKES

Weekend break time is coming up for many.  Make a quiet-time date and spend  five minutes forgiving yourself past mistakes.

The Amercian Sign Language for forgiveness. Hold one hand palm up. Cup the other hand slighty and rub it twice across the other hand.

Mistakes are for learning, not for beating up on yourself or another.  When you can laugh a bit of some things, you are not dealing with a life blow. That is when you will find this exercise useful.  So see if you can find something to laugh about in this Emotional Fitness Poster Coach. I like the last one best.

Saved the last for best.

Saved the last for best.

If you could not at least grin a bit, wait.  Also, think about getting more support even counseling or therapy. If you did chuckle a bit, you will find the following useful.

EMOTIONAL FITNESS TRAINING’S FORGIVNESS EXERCISE

Practicing forgiveness is an Emotional Fitness Exercise.  So here’s how to work at forgiving yourself  mistakes that still haunt you.

  •  Give the mistake a short name.
  • Think of a lesson the mistake taught you.
  • Take a deep breath in, hold it until you feel some tension, then breathe out.
  • As you breathe out, smile gently  and say,  “That was then, this is now, lesson learned. moving on.”
  • It works best, if you can turn that phrase into a little song.
  • Immediately practice one of the Emotional Fitness Exercises designed to lift your mood. Here is a list: Remember What Matters, Practice Kindness, Be Grateful, Indulge in a Healthy Pleasure, or Be With Beauty. Be with Beauty is a good place to begin. Go to Emotional Fitness’ Be with Beauty Pinterest Board.

Any time memories of a mistake returns, repeat the above.

Is this magic. No, but many find practiced, it drains the power of bad memories connected to mistakes.
