I disagree sometimes with Oprah. Mainly when she pushes a bit too much on the idea you get what you want if you want it hard enough. Success needs a bit of luck in the mix. Nevertheless, I greatly admire her drive and what she has done to move the world of caring forward.
This is a particularly good article on the benefits of trusting for you as well as those you meet and greet with a trusting heart.

Tip three: Trust yourself to protect yourself. You can keep caring, and still be cautious when trust frays around the edges.
Life is hard, people not always in your corner, but trusting and hoping for the best usually gets the best coming back to you.
