ABOUT THE PICTURE
My mother. Taken one summer on the beach at Point Pleasant. Hope it shows up half decently. She looks about twelve. She was fearless in the water. She claimed to swim with the life guards when waves were 20 feet high. I was terrified of water from the time I was five until I made myself learn to swim at the age of 21. Still want goggles as water in my eyes brings back the trauma of being tossed into water I thought was over my head by my older brother when five. He, as did many of that time, thought it was the way to teach me to swim. Didn’t work.
